## Who is behind Mame Kurogouchi?

Maiko Kurogouchi, born in Nagano in 1985, studied at Bunka Fashion College and spent three years working with Issey Miyake before founding her company in 2010. She showed at Tokyo Fashion Week from Spring/Summer 2011 and first presented in Paris in 2018. The Kyoto Costume Institute holds a dress from that season, Autumn/Winter 2018, whose plant motifs were woven, dyed and embroidered by specialist workshops in Hokuriku, Kyoto and Kiryu. In 2021 the Nagano Prefectural Art Museum marked the label’s tenth anniversary with an exhibition, and in 2023 it opened its first flagship, in Aoyama. Mame Kurogouchi showed on the official Paris womenswear calendar every season from FW24 to SS27.
