## Who is behind sacai?

Chitose Abe founded sacai in Tokyo in 1999. The Fédération describes its signature as hybridisation: contrasting textures, such as knit set against very fine woven fabric, and reworked patterns that turn familiar garments into unexpected shapes. In July 2021 Abe became the first guest designer of Jean Paul Gaultier’s haute couture, a show announced in 2020 and postponed by the pandemic, W Magazine reports. The label was on the official Paris menswear calendar every season from FW24 to SS27 (with a presentation rather than a show for SS26), and on the womenswear calendar in every season we checked except FW26.
