## When is Milan Fashion Week?

Milan shows after London and before Paris each ready-to-wear season — February/March for autumn/winter and September for spring/summer. For AW26 the CNMI calendar ran 24 February–2 March 2026, with 25–27 February anchored by heritage houses including Prada, Gucci, Fendi, Ferragamo and Bottega Veneta.

Menswear has its own Milan-heavy rhythm earlier in the year. Do not collapse men’s and women’s sheets into one “Milan week” when you are citing a walk.

## Who organises Milan Fashion Week?

Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI), a non-profit that coordinates, disciplines and promotes Italian fashion. It grew from the Camera Sindacale della Moda Italiana, established 11 June 1958, with founding members including Roberto Capucci, Emilio Schuberth, Maria Antonelli, Germana Marucelli and Jole Veneziani.

CNMI is Milan’s counterpart to Paris’s FHCM or New York’s CFDA: calendar, accreditation, collective representation. It is not a single venue landlord.

## Why is Milan Italy’s runway capital?

It was not inevitable. Florence’s Sala Bianca had been the main showcase for foreign buyers in the 1950s and 60s. Through the 1970s a new ready-to-wear generation chose Milan for industrial and textile infrastructure — Giorgio Armani founded his house there in 1975, Gianni Versace in 1978 — and the centre of gravity moved.

That history is why Milan still reads as houses rather than a graduate circus. If you are scouting raw new faces, look at London and the emerging circuit as well; if you are scoring blue-chip runway, Milan is often where the evidence is densest.

## Who should skip Milan Fashion Week?

Skip it if you need couture’s legal designation, or if you are treating one house’s show as the whole week’s beauty credit. Use it for craft, heritage casts and campaign-adjacent runway. For finishes, wait until Paris has closed the month before declaring a season.

As elsewhere, you do not buy a legitimate walk. Agencies and casting directors book Milan; Instagram producers do not.
