## What counts, and what we leave out

This is an introduction, not a ranking. We chose twelve labels that between them cover couture, womenswear and menswear, from Guo Pei’s Rose Studio, founded in 1997, to labels started since 2016, and that have a public record we could check. The guide covers designers born in mainland China or Hong Kong, wherever their studios are; four of the twelve are based in London. Taiwanese labels, and designers of Chinese heritage born and raised elsewhere, fall outside it.

Paris facts come from the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode’s official calendars, which we read ourselves: men’s and women’s calendars from January 2023 to SS27, and haute couture calendars from January 2025 to July 2026. On those calendars, Chinese labels showing or presenting included Uma Wang, RUOHAN, DIDU and the Shanghai house ICICLE in womenswear; Ziggy Chen, Sean Suen and Feng Chen Wang in menswear; and Robert Wun in haute couture. Shanghai facts come from Shanghai Fashion Week’s official SS2027 schedule and show pages, London facts from the British Fashion Council’s official schedule, and museum facts from M+. Where sources disagree on a date, the profile says so.

Facts were checked on 22 October 2026. If you represent one of these labels and see something out of date, send us a correction.
