Miss Universe

Miss Universe was first held in 1952 in Long Beach, California, where Armi Kuusela of Finland took the crown (Telemundo). The 2026 pageant is the 75th edition, its diamond anniversary. In July 2026 the Miss Universe Organization confirmed the final for 24 November at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, the pageant’s return to Puerto Rico after more than two decades (El Nuevo Día; ¡HOLA!).

The arena, known locally as “el Choliseo”, holds about 18,500 people. The stage concept presented on 30 September features a futuristic set with moving scenic elements, 3D graphics and lighting and video systems, designed to change its look between the costume show, the preliminary and the final (¡HOLA!).

The welcome has already begun: from 6 to 9 October, 17 delegates from across the Americas toured the island with the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, hosted by Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2026, Jennifer Barreto (¡HOLA!).

The Coliseo de Puerto Rico lists three nights: the National Costume show on Saturday 21 November at 7pm, the Preliminaries on Sunday 22 November at 7pm and the Finals on Tuesday 24 November at 8pm, all in Puerto Rico’s Atlantic Standard Time (UTC−4). ¡HOLA! reports the same times. The Philippine Daily Inquirer notes that the coronation falls only hours apart from the Miss International 2026 final.

For the final, 8pm in San Juan is 7pm ET and 4pm PT in the US and midnight GMT in the UK. In Southeast Asia it falls on the morning of Wednesday 25 November: 07:00 WIB in Jakarta, Bangkok and Hanoi, and 08:00 in Bali (WITA), Manila, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. The costume show and preliminary both start at 06:00 WIB in Jakarta, on Sunday 22 and Monday 23 November.

Tickets are sold through the Coliseo’s Ticketera page: a “Universe Experience” package covers all three nights, a “Premium Experience” covers the costume show and preliminary, and single-night tickets are available for each event (Coliseo de Puerto Rico).

Broadcast and streaming partners for 2026 had not been officially announced when this page was checked on 16 October 2026, and no hosts or performers had been named. For the 2025 final, Telemundo carried the show live in the US with streaming on Peacock, and the Miss Universe website pointed viewers in countries without a broadcaster to the pageant’s YouTube channel (The Desert Sun). The 2026 broadcasters will be added here once they are confirmed.

Indonesia’s Miss Universe delegate is no longer chosen through Puteri Indonesia. The Yayasan Puteri Indonesia held the national licence for 30 years until March 2023 (AP), and Puteri Indonesia 2026, Agnes Aditya Rahajeng, represented Indonesia at Miss Supranational 2026 in Poland in July (detikcom).

For the 2026 pageant, Indonesia’s place is part of a franchise dispute inside the Miss Universe Organization. On 18 September, JKN Universe LLC said it did not recognise the 2026 franchise arrangements for Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia and Singapore; Miss Universe Eastern (MU East), which appointed those franchises, says it keeps the contractual right to send their delegates, and its chief executive, Nawat Itsaragrisil, said the contestants will travel to Puerto Rico (detikcom; CNBC Indonesia; MU East).

Bea Millan-Windorski of La Union won Miss Universe Philippines 2026 in May and represents the Philippines in Puerto Rico (The Philippine Star).

Three titleholders have been crowned by franchises covered by the dispute: Tharina Botes, representing Bangkok, won Miss Universe Thailand 2026 on 23 August (The Nation Thailand); Nguyễn Quỳnh Anh, 27, of Hanoi won Miss Universe Vietnam 2026 in Hai Phong on 2 October (VietNamNet); and Eunice Wong, a 37-year-old businesswoman, won Miss Universe Malaysia 2026 in Kuala Lumpur the same night (Malay Mail).
