How to become a model in Italy

Apply online to a Milan agency through its own website, with natural, make-up-free photos and your height. Elite, Women, Next and others take applications by form; Next has cancelled open calls. Elite, IMG and Next say they never ask applicants for payment. Children need labour-inspectorate authorisation, with parents’ written consent, to work in advertising or entertainment.

How it works

How do agencies in Italy recruit?

  • Applications go through each agency’s own form. Elite’s covers Milan and its other European offices, and Next’s lets you choose Milan. Elite Milan — get scouted ↗
  • No portfolio needed: Women Management says experience and professional photos are not required, and Monster says phone photos taken by a friend or family member are fine. Monster Management — application ↗
  • Some Milan agencies publish height minimums, The Fashion Model Management and Independent among them; Elite, Women, Next and Why Not publish none. The Fashion Model Management — get scouted ↗
  • Expect to hear only if selected: Next says it will be in touch if it feels you have the right look, and Monster keeps application data for no more than 30 working days. Next Management — recruitment ↗
  • Why Not says its scouts always show proof of identification, and Independent says its official emails come only from @independentmgmt.it addresses. Why Not — get scouted ↗
  • We could not verify an official Italian rule specific to modelling-agency fees; the rules below cover children’s work.

FAQ

Modelling in Italy, answered

Do Milan modelling agencies charge to apply?

The ones listed here say not. Elite, IMG and Next say they never ask for payment, and The Fashion Model Management warns against anyone promising modelling work for a fee.

Can I walk in to a Milan agency?

None of the Milan agencies listed publishes open-call times. Next says open calls are cancelled until further notice and Select lists no Milan open call, so apply through the agency’s own form.

Can under-18s apply?

Yes, with a parent or guardian. Elite and Women ask for a guardian’s details, Independent says minors must apply with a parent’s support, and IMG accepts applications from 14 with a guardian’s authorisation. Children’s work in advertising needs labour-inspectorate authorisation.
