Indonesian fashion runs from Jakarta couture houses such as BIYAN and Sebastian Gunawan to ready-to-wear labels such as TOTON and PEGGY HARTANTO, modest wear, accessories and textile houses built on batik and tenun, such as BINhouse and Sejauh Mata Memandang. How this guide works
What counts, and what we leave out
This is an introduction, not a ranking. We chose twelve labels that between them cover the range of Indonesian design (couture and eveningwear, ready-to-wear, modest wear, accessories, textile heritage and slow fashion) and that have a public record we could check.
Every milestone links its own source: the label’s own site, an official fashion-week or prize organiser, a museum, or named press such as The Jakarta Post and Tatler Asia. We left out claims we could not confirm. Two we looked for did not check out: we found no Indonesian designer among the LVMH Prize semi-finalists from 2014 to 2026, and no Indonesian label on the official Paris couture or ready-to-wear calendars from 2024 to 2026.
Facts were checked on 22 October 2026. Labels change lines, shops and partners, so if you represent one of them and see something out of date, send us a correction.
