How to look after your skin through a product-heavy season
Placeholder byline (prototype) — to be reviewed by a consultant dermatologist before publication
A season means heavy makeup applied and removed repeatedly, often quickly and under time pressure. The skin’s barrier — the outer layer that holds moisture in and irritants out — takes the strain, and once it is compromised, everything else gets harder.
The single most useful habit is gentle removal. A soft cleansing balm or micellar approach, without hard rubbing, does more to protect skin than any active ingredient. Friction is often the real culprit backstage.
During a busy stretch, simpler is better: a gentle cleanser, a barrier-supporting moisturiser, and daily SPF will outperform an elaborate routine you can’t keep up. Introduce any new product with a patch test in advance.
If redness, breakouts, or irritation persist, the answer is a dermatologist — not stronger acids, which usually make a stressed barrier worse.
