Dyson Airwrap Co-anda2x vs Shark FlexStyle.

Two Coanda-effect hair stylers compared on the manufacturers’ own UK specifications: what comes in the box, power, heat settings, how each dries hair and what each costs.

The verdict

Should I buy the Dyson Airwrap Co-anda2x or the Shark FlexStyle?

Choose the Dyson Airwrap Co-anda2x if you want an air-straightening attachment, Dyson’s automated i.d. curl sequence and the higher stated power, and the £579.99 UK price is acceptable. Choose the Shark FlexStyle if price leads: £269.99 RRP for a dryer that twists into a styling wand, with a diffuser in the box.

How we compared

Desk research, stated plainly.

This comparison is desk research. We lined up the two devices’ published UK specifications, contents and prices from Dyson UK and SharkNinja UK on 1 October 2026. Neither device was tested in a laboratory or used by our editors for this page.

There is no overall score. Specifications such as wattage and motor speed are manufacturer figures and do not on their own predict results on a particular hair type. Heat-protection statements are reported as brand claims, and no brand paid to be compared.

Questions

Dyson Airwrap vs Shark FlexStyle, answered

Is the Shark FlexStyle a Dyson Airwrap dupe?

It is the closest-format alternative rather than a copy. Both use the Coanda effect to wrap hair around a curling barrel, but the attachments, power and heat settings differ, and the Shark’s handle twists into a hair dryer. We have not tested the two side by side.

Which is cheaper, the Dyson Airwrap or the Shark FlexStyle?

The Shark. On 1 October 2026 the FlexStyle HD446UK set had an RRP of £269.99 and was £229.99 on SharkNinja UK; the Dyson Airwrap Co-anda2x Straight+Wavy set was £579.99 on Dyson UK.

Does the Shark FlexStyle have a straightener attachment?

Not in the HD446UK set. It includes a paddle brush and an oval brush for smoothing; SharkNinja sells other attachments separately. The Dyson Straight+Wavy set includes the Air straightener 2x.

Do Dyson Airwrap attachments fit the Shark FlexStyle?

No — they are separate systems. Dyson also says earlier Airwrap attachments do not fit the Co-anda2x.

Do they damage hair?

Both brands say their devices limit heat damage by monitoring temperature many times a second. Those are manufacturer claims, not independent findings; the heat setting you choose and how often you style still matter.

Which is more powerful?

On paper, the Dyson: 1,700W against the Shark’s 1,650W, and Dyson publishes motor speed, airflow and pressure figures that Shark does not list on its UK page. Wattage alone does not tell you how a styler will perform on your hair.
