Early life
Anna Luisa Ewers was born on 14 March 1993 in Freiburg, Germany, and has two sisters, Andrea and Antonia. As a teenage exchange student in Colombia she modelled for the first time, then returned to Germany to finish school, working as a cocktail waitress before her international career began.
03 / Career record
Discovery and rapid rise, 2013–2014
Ewers was discovered when designer Alexander Wang found her photo on a blog and told his casting director, Anita Bitton, "Let’s find this girl!" She became his runway muse, with Wang later recalling that "there was something in her posture and in her look that I immediately felt drawn to." In the Spring/Summer 2014 season she walked 37 shows, including Céline, Balenciaga and Prada, and opened for both Dolce & Gabbana and Alexander Wang; that February she was named Milan Fashion Week’s Top Model after walking 18 shows there, including Fendi and Emilio Pucci.

Supermodel status, 2014–2015
In December 2014, Ewers fronted the widely discussed Denim x Alexander Wang campaign, shot by Steven Klein. Between July 2013 and May 2015 she appeared on nine Vogue covers, including five variant covers for Vogue Germany in March 2015. She won Models.com’s Breakout Star award in 2014 and was named the platform’s Model of the Year in 2015, the same year she shot the Pirelli Calendar with Steven Meisel alongside Adriana Lima and Raquel Zimmermann, and joined the Business of Fashion 500.

Continued campaign work
Ewers has walked for more than 60 designers across her career, including Balenciaga, Balmain, Calvin Klein, Chanel, Dior, Fendi, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Prada and Versace, and appeared in more than 100 editorials and campaigns, including a Fall/Winter 2018 David Yurman campaign shot by Peter Lindbergh alongside Joan Smalls, Ashley Graham and Amber Valletta.
