Early life
Malika Louback-Mohamed was born in Djibouti to mother Moumina Houmed Hassan, who has served as Djibouti’s Minister for Women and the Family since 2016, and a father who worked as an engineer; she has two sisters, both based in France. Before modelling, Louback pursued an unusually technical education in Lyon, completing a university technology diploma in industrial and maintenance engineering, a bachelor’s degree in physics, and a materials-science engineering degree over six years from 2013. In February 2019 she co-authored a peer-reviewed paper on cellulose nanofiber-reinforced chitosan hydrogel composites for intervertebral disc repair, published in the journal Biomimetics.
She entered modelling directly after finishing her studies, cold-emailing IMG Models through the agency’s website and signing in September 2019.

Runway debut and a historic cover, 2020
Louback’s runway debut season came in Spring/Summer 2020, walking for Jil Sander in Milan and Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel and Hermès in Paris. In September 2020 she landed her first magazine cover, for Vogue Paris — reportedly the first appearance by a Djiboutian woman on that cover.

Recognition and campaign work, 2021–2023
Louback became the face of Loro Piana in 2021 and appeared on the cover of Vogue Japan that September; she was nominated for Breakout Star at the 2020 Models.com Industry Awards and shortlisted for Model of the Year in 2021. Cover credits continued with Vogue France and Numéro in 2022, alongside a V Magazine feature, and an Elle France cover in September 2023.

Recent record, 2024–2025
In April 2024, Louback appeared on the cover of Vogue Adria, shot by Vitali Gelwich, and walked Courrèges’s Fall/Winter 2024 show at Paris Fashion Week; she also took part in Hermès’s Resort 2025 presentation. That August she became a face of Chloé’s L’Eau de Parfum Intense campaign, photographed by Zoë Ghertner alongside Arizona Muse and He Cong, a campaign that continued into 2025 alongside a D La Repubblica cover shot by Sharna Osborne that February.
