Early life
Leona Anastasia "Binx" Walton — nicknamed by her brothers after a Star Wars character — was born on 24 April 1996 in Los Angeles County, California, and moved to Hawaii as an infant before settling in Knoxville, Tennessee at age six; her heritage includes African American, Irish, Dutch, German, Indian and East Asian ancestry. She was spotted by a modelling scout at a swimming pool in Tennessee at around age nine; the family followed up roughly three years later, and she signed with Next Model Management in 2012 at 17, relocating to New York.

She joined the Business of Fashion 500 list under "Models & Muses" the same year.
