01 / Why they matter
What Alex is known for.
Named Model of the Year at the 2024 Fashion Awards.
02 / Career record
Early life
Alex Monette Consani was born on 23 July 2003 in Petaluma, California, to a mother who works in water conservation and a father who works with Guide Dogs for the Blind. Consani is transgender; she began wearing feminine clothing at four, chose the name Alex at eight, and underwent hormone replacement therapy during puberty.
In early 2015, when she was twelve, her mother found an advertisement on Facebook for Slay Model Management, a Los Angeles agency composed entirely of transgender models. Consani signed with the agency and, at the time, became the world’s youngest transgender model. A 2016 feature in Cosmopolitan Germany brought her wider attention, and that year, aged thirteen, she appeared in a photoshoot with the model Dominique Jackson.
03 / Career record
Building a career, 2019–2022
Consani graduated from Petaluma High School in 2021 and enrolled at Pace University on scholarship. Professionally, she signed with IMG Models in August 2019 at sixteen and relocated to New York at eighteen. In 2020 she began posting comedic, absurdist videos on TikTok — first as "captincroook," later through a persona she called "Miss Mawma" — building an audience that would become central to her public profile.
She made her runway debut for Tom Ford in New York in 2021, and by 2022 had passed 700,000 TikTok followers. That year GLAAD named her to its "20 Under 20" list of outstanding young LGBTQ changemakers, and she walked for Versace and Alexander McQueen during Fall/Winter 2022 fashion month.
04 / Career record
Breakout year, 2023
Vogue named Consani among the standout new faces of Spring/Summer 2023, a season in which she walked for Boss, Burberry, Chloé, Roberto Cavalli and Coperni. In September she became the face of Jean Paul Gaultier’s collaborative collection with Knwls, and by October her TikTok following had passed 1.4 million. That month, Forbes placed her on its Top Creators Fashion 50 list with a 21.5% engagement rate — the highest of anyone on the list.
05 / Career record
A historic 2024
By early 2024 Consani had passed two million TikTok followers and more than 150 million likes; she went on to appear in music videos for JT’s "Okay" and Charli XCX’s "360." In 2024 she became the first openly transgender woman nominated for The Fashion Awards’ Model of the Year category, and on 15 October 2024 she and Valentina Sampaio became the first transgender models to walk the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
On 2 December 2024, Consani became the first transgender person to win The Fashion Awards’ Model of the Year award. Forbes named her to its 30 Under 30 list that same month, capping a year in which outlets including E!, Bustle and PinkNews had already been calling her fashion’s reigning "It girl."
06 / Career record
Recent record, 2025–2026
Consani made her Met Gala debut in 2025 and was named to Time magazine’s inaugural Time 100 Creators list. In May 2026 she became the first trans woman to serve on the Met Gala’s host committee, returning to the event that month in a sheer Gucci gown. Her current Index Rating is built on the same current-season momentum: Paris runway appearances for Chanel, Alexander McQueen and Jean Paul Gaultier in March 2026, Gucci and Chanel campaign and resort credits, and her 2024 Fashion Awards win, detailed in the evidence section below.
