Early life
Caroline Aparecida Trentini was born on 6 July 1987 in Panambi, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, of Italian and German descent; her father died during her infancy, and her mother, Lourdes, raised Caroline and her two older sisters alone. Trentini was scouted at around 14 in her hometown, moved to São Paulo within a year and then to New York around 15 to work internationally.

Breakthrough and early Vogue covers, early 2000s–2007
Trentini’s breakthrough came in a Marc by Marc Jacobs campaign photographed by Juergen Teller, followed by a Vogue Brasil cover in May 2004 and a Vogue Italia cover in January 2005, shot by Steven Meisel. She walked her Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show debut in 2005, and fronted Balenciaga and Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2006 campaigns. In May 2007 she appeared on American Vogue’s "World’s Next Top Models" group cover alongside nine other models, the same year she fronted Gucci Cruise, Oscar de la Renta and Dsquared² campaigns.

Trentini fronted DKNY and Carlos Miele campaigns in 2008, and became the face of Brazilian footwear brand Carrano from 2015 to 2016. Across her career she has appeared on dozens of Vogue covers internationally, and has been recognised as a Models.com "Industry Icon."

Recent record, 2024–2025
Trentini opened the Herchcovitch & Alexandre show at Casa de Criadores, São Paulo, in July 2024, and walked and starred in Balmain’s Fall/Winter 2024 campaign, shot by Theo Liu, alongside runway appearances for Carolina Herrera in New York and Gucci in Milan that season. She returned to Balmain’s runway at Paris Fashion Week under Olivier Rousteing in March 2025. She is represented by Ford Models in New York, Paris and Los Angeles, alongside Elite Model Management in Milan and Barcelona.
