Early life
Emily O’Hara Ratajkowski was born on 7 June 1991 in Westminster, London, to American parents, and raised in Encinitas, California; she attended UCLA for one year before turning to modelling full-time. She signed with Ford Models at 14, doing early print work for Kohl’s and Nordstrom, and her breakthrough cover — for treats! magazine in March 2012 — led directly into music-video work.
Breakthrough and screen work, 2013–2018
Ratajkowski’s global breakthrough came via Robin Thicke’s "Blurred Lines" video, featuring T.I. and Pharrell, released 20 March 2013. She went on to build a parallel film and television career, including Gone Girl in 2014, Entourage and We Are Your Friends in 2015, and I Feel Pretty in 2018. Her runway debut came for Marc Jacobs at New York Fashion Week in September 2015, followed by Miu Miu in Paris in March 2016 and Versace and Dolce & Gabbana in Milan in September 2018.
