Early life
Jasmine Sanders, nicknamed "Golden Barbie," was born on 22 June 1991 in Frankenthal, Germany, to a German mother and an African-American father, and raised in Columbia, South Carolina. She was scouted as a teenager by agent Sheilah Dixon of Millie Lewis Columbia, working for brands including Seventeen, Free People, Nike and Aldo before she turned 14.

A shift to high fashion, 2016–2018
Sanders transitioned into high fashion in 2016, walking Miu Miu’s Spring/Summer show and going on to model for Moschino, Ralph Lauren, DKNY, Jeremy Scott, Julien Macdonald and Philipp Plein. In 2017 she became a Reebok spokesmodel, designing a custom sneaker for the brand that launched that December, and by November 2018 had fronted an Elle Turkey cover alongside Harper’s Bazaar Kazakhstan and Mexico.

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit and continued campaign work, 2019–2025
Sanders made her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit debut in 2019, earning the magazine’s "Rookie of the Year" title, and fronted its 2020 cover alongside Kate Bock and Olivia Culpo. Her editorial record spans the American, Italian, British, Russian and Arabia editions of Vogue, alongside LOVE, Allure and CR Fashion Book, with campaigns for Bvlgari, Roberto Cavalli, Ralph Lauren and Victoria’s Secret PINK. In 2025 she made her seventh consecutive Sports Illustrated Swimsuit appearance, photographed by Derek Kettela in Zurich, and walked the SI Swim Miami Swim Week runway show that May. She is represented by The Society Management in New York and Elite Model Management across Paris and Milan.
