Early life
Jasmine Tookes was born on 1 February 1991 in Huntington Beach, California, of African American, Brazilian, European and West Indian ancestry. A ten-year gymnast who also played volleyball and softball, she was discovered by her own mother, a celebrity fashion stylist, at a showroom appointment. She signed with IMG Models and began modelling around age 15, with her first campaigns — for UGG Australia and Gap — coming in 2010.

Early recognition and Victoria’s Secret, 2011–2015
Tookes was named a top-10 newcomer by Models.com in September 2011 and Style magazine’s top new model that November, the same year she appeared in a DKNY campaign and a Vogue Italia layout. She became one of eleven new Victoria’s Secret models in 2012, walking the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show that December, and was named among French Vogue’s "10 New Faces" for the Fall/Winter 2012–13 season. She became a full Victoria’s Secret Angel in 2015.

The Fantasy Bra and peak earnings, 2016
In 2016, Tookes was selected to wear the $3 million Fantasy Bra at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, reportedly the third Black model to do so, and debuted on Forbes’ "World’s Highest-Paid Models" list at No. 17, with estimated earnings of $4 million. Her cover credits include Elle France, Vogue España, Harper’s Bazaar Vietnam, Maxim and Elle USA, and her campaign roster spans more than 40 brands including Burberry, Salvatore Ferragamo, Carolina Herrera, Ralph Lauren and Prada. She co-founded the activewear label JOJA with fellow Angel Josephine Skriver.

Tookes was ranked "Most Beautiful Face in the World" by TC Candler in 2022. She launched her own beauty brand, Brunel, on 15 May 2025, and opened the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show later that year while pregnant with her second child. She remains represented by IMG Models in New York and Paris.
