Kaia Gerber

Early life

Kaia Jordan Gerber was born on 3 September 2001 in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber; her older brother, Presley Gerber, is also a model. Her family blends German, English, French and Danish heritage on her mother’s side with American Jewish and Algerian Jewish heritage on her father’s, and has spoken publicly about celebrating both Christian and Jewish holiday traditions.

She landed her first modelling job at age 10, appearing in Versace’s Young Versace Spring/Summer 2012 campaign, and signed with IMG Models in July 2015; she is also represented by DNA Model Management and VIVA Model Management.

Runway breakthrough, 2016–2018

Gerber’s early career combined modelling and acting: a 2015 television-film role in Sister Cities came the same period as Vogue Paris, Vogue Netherlands and Vogue India covers in 2016, some shot alongside her mother, plus campaigns for Marc Jacobs’ Daisy fragrance, Alexander Wang and Chrome Hearts. Her official runway debut came for Calvin Klein at age 16 in 2017, the same year she opened Alexander Wang’s Spring/Summer show — a breakthrough moment for her runway career — and appeared on the cover of Teen Vogue.

In 2018, Gerber walked for Chanel, Prada, Burberry and Fendi, appeared on Vogue Paris and Vogue Italia covers, and co-created the "KarlxKaia" collection with Karl Lagerfeld. That December she won Model of the Year at The Fashion Awards.

Campaigns and a turn to acting, 2019–2023

Gerber became a YSL Beauty ambassador in 2019, fronting Jimmy Choo and Stella McCartney campaigns the same year, and appeared on a British Vogue October cover; that season she walked 26 shows, including four openings and four closings. Acting became a more significant secondary track from 2020, with appearances in American Horror Story: Double Feature and American Horror Stories, followed by a feature-film debut in Damien Chazelle’s Babylon and a role in Bottoms, which premiered at SXSW in March 2023.

Recent record, 2024–2025

Gerber took a recurring role in Apple TV+’s Palm Royale, which premiered 20 March 2024, alongside continued modelling work including a British Vogue March 2024 cover. She was named NARS Cosmetics Global Brand Ambassador in December 2025, fronting the brand’s Afterglow Lip Balm campaign, while continuing television work in Hacks and Overcompensating.
