Early life
Martha Hunt was born on 27 April 1989 in Wilson, North Carolina. She heard about a model search on local radio and attended a scouting event in Charlotte, where a photographer discovered her and connected her to agencies in New York; she signed with IMG Models.

Early runway and editorial work, 2007–2012
Hunt made her runway debut at Issey Miyake’s Paris Fashion Week show in 2007, and by 2009 had appeared on covers of Vogue China, Harper’s Bazaar and GQ, modelling for Tracy Reese, J. Mendel and Rebecca Taylor. Her editorial and campaign record grew through 2010 and 2011 to include Marie Claire Italia, Vogue Russia, Allure, BCBG Max Azria and Hugo Boss, and she re-signed with IMG Models in 2012.

Victoria’s Secret and a broader public profile, 2013–2020
Hunt became the face of Free People in 2013 and walked her first Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show that year, alongside campaigns for Miu Miu, Prada, Express and Ralph Lauren. She was named a full Victoria’s Secret Angel in 2015, appearing in the brand’s first Swim Special and in Taylor Swift’s "Bad Blood" video, followed by a Chainsmokers video appearance in 2017. In 2019 she set Celebrity Family Feud’s highest-ever Fast Money score, 197 points, leading a Victoria’s Secret Angels team to a $25,000 win, and appeared as herself in Taylor Swift’s 2020 documentary "Miss Americana." Across her career she has walked more than 180 runway shows for houses including Chanel, Prada, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy and Louis Vuitton.
