Early life
Xi Mengyao, known professionally as Ming Xi, was born on 18 March 1989 in Shanghai, China. She appeared on the Dragon Television competition show Go! Oriental Angels in 2008, and two years after college graduation entered the Elite Model Look competition, placing third — a result that led to a contract and runway debut with Givenchy.

From Givenchy to Victoria’s Secret, 2010–2018
Ming Xi featured in Givenchy’s Fall/Winter 2010 campaign and its Haute Couture Spring 2011 show, walking New York Fashion Week that autumn alongside fellow Chinese models Shu Pei, Sun Feifei and Liu Wen. She walked the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show for six consecutive years, from 2013 to 2018, and in 2015 walked Balmain’s Fall show and appeared in a Karl Lagerfeld campaign alongside Kendall Jenner and Sasha Luss. At the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, staged in her hometown of Shanghai — the first time the show was held in China — she fell during the finale walk and finished with composure, aided by fellow model Gizele Oliveira, a moment widely covered by fashion and general press.

Family and continued campaign work, 2019–2025
Ming Xi married Mario Ho, son of Hong Kong-Macau businessman Stanley Ho, in July 2019, and the couple have two children, born in 2019 and 2021. She became the face of Biotherm’s Life Plankton range in 2019, and has continued high-profile campaign work in recent years, including Louis Vuitton’s Chinese Valentine’s Day campaign in 2023, walking Balenciaga’s Resort 2025 show in Shanghai in May 2024, and being named Stuart Weitzman’s global brand ambassador in August 2024, a contract renewed in 2025 alongside a Fendi Fall/Winter 2025 Milan runway appearance and a spot on Vogue China’s 20th-anniversary cover.
