Early life
Nyadak "Duckie" Thot — a nickname that stuck after classmates found "Nyadak" hard to pronounce — was born on 23 October 1995 in Melbourne, Australia, one of seven siblings and the first in her family born in Australia after her parents fled South Sudan as refugees. Her sister, Nikki Perkins, a model and YouTube personality, introduced her to modelling.

From reality television to Yeezy, 2013–2017
Thot auditioned for Australia’s Next Top Model in 2013, reaching the final elimination, and began local runway work in Australia in 2016 before relocating to Brooklyn, New York, that year to pursue international work, signing with New York Model Management. Her breakthrough came after a casting caught the attention of Kanye West’s assistant, leading to her international runway debut at the Yeezy Season 4 show for Spring/Summer 2017.

Beauty ambassadorships and recognition, 2017–2022
Thot became the face of Fenty Beauty at its 2017 launch, and a global ambassador for L’Oréal Paris from 2018, alongside runway and campaign work for Fenty x Puma, Moschino, Balmain and Oscar de la Renta, and a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show appearance in 2018. In 2018 she also starred in Pirelli’s Alice in Wonderland-themed calendar, photographed by Tim Walker. She became a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit rookie in the magazine’s January 2022 issue, followed by an additional gallery shot in Puerto Rico in 2023.
