Shanina Shaik

Early life

Shanina Shaik was born on 11 February 1991 in Melbourne, Australia, to an Australian mother of Lithuanian descent and a father born in Singapore of Pakistani and Saudi Arabian descent. She modelled as a child, including work for Myer and a Hyundai commercial at age 8, and at 15 entered the Girlfriend magazine model competition and competed on the Australian reality series Make Me a Supermodel, finishing runner-up.

Runway debut and Victoria’s Secret, 2009–2012

Shaik made her professional runway debut in the Autumn/Winter 2009 season in New York, walking eight or more shows, including Yeohlee, Betsey Johnson, Catherine Malandrino and Oscar de la Renta. In 2011 she was cast in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and signed with NEXT Model Management, and the following year opened for Jason Wu and walked for Tom Ford, Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood.

Recent record, 2016–2026

Shaik became a brand ambassador for Seafolly swimwear in 2016, and her cover credits include Cosmopolitan, Cleo, Vogue India and multiple editions of Harper’s Bazaar. She gave birth to her first child in September 2022. In 2026 she attended Paris Fashion Week events including an Hourglass cosmetics dinner and a Victoria Beckham presentation in March, walked Australian Fashion Week for heritage label Carla Zampatti in May, and fronted a social-media campaign for Australian label Dissh that June. She is represented by The Lions in New York and IMG Models across Paris, London and Milan.
