Jac Jagaciak

Early life

Monika Jagaciak, known professionally as Jac Jagaciak, was born on 15 January 1994 in Poznań, Poland; her sister, Anna Jagaciak-Michalska, is a retired professional long and triple jumper, and her parents both worked in athletics coaching and physical education. At 13, encouraged by her sister, she attended a modelling agency casting at a shopping centre and signed with IMG Models, which gave her the nickname "Jac."

Rapid rise, 2007–2010

Jagaciak fronted her first magazine cover, French Jalouse, in July 2007, the same year she landed a breakthrough Hermès Fall/Winter campaign. By 2008 she had a second Jalouse France cover and covers for Elle Japan, Harper’s Bazaar Japan and Spur Japan. Her New York Fashion Week runway debut came in 2009, walking for Donna Karan and opening and closing for Calvin Klein Collection, alongside closing slots for Hervé Léger, Marc Jacobs and Marni; she was named in New York Magazine’s "Top Ten Models to Watch" after amassing 13 covers by that May. In 2010 she fronted Fall/Winter campaigns for Valentino, Alberta Ferretti and Marc Jacobs, and became the exclusive face of Chanel makeup.

Victoria’s Secret and a career pause, 2015–2019

Jagaciak became a Victoria’s Secret Angel in 2015, leaving the role the following year, and took a career hiatus of about two years to study at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She married American-Serbian artist Branislav Jankic in 2017, and their daughter, Mila, was born in 2019. She is represented by DNA Models in New York, D’Vision in Warsaw, Premier Model Management in London and Ford Models in Paris.
