Early life and discovery
Jill Megan Kortleve was born on 5 November 1993 in Heerlen, Netherlands, with Dutch, Surinamese, Indonesian and Indian heritage. Her path into modelling was informal: she was discovered by her best friend, who went on to found the Amsterdam agency The Movement Models, which became Kortleve’s mother agency.
A historic Chanel booking
Kortleve gained early visibility as an exclusive face of Alexander McQueen’s Spring/Summer 2019 show. The bigger moment came during Paris Fashion Week in 2020, when she walked for Chanel — the first plus-size model to do so since Crystal Renn in 2010 — a booking widely covered as a marker of the industry’s slow move toward broader size representation on its most exclusive runways.
