Early life

Lila Grace Moss Hack was born on 29 September 2002 in London, the only child of supermodel Kate Moss and Jefferson Hack, co-founder of Dazed magazine; her parents separated shortly after her birth. At age eight she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, and has since worn a visible insulin pump on the runway and in campaigns — a choice she has described publicly as a way of normalising the condition rather than concealing it.

She first appeared publicly in fashion at 14, on a 2016 Vogue Italia cover alongside her mother, and later studied at Parsons School of Design in New York.

Early campaigns before the runway, 2018–2020

Because modelling agencies typically bar runway work before 18, Moss’s early career ran through campaigns and editorial rather than shows. She became the face of Marc Jacobs Beauty in 2018 and landed a solo Dazed cover the same year, building a public profile years before she was eligible to walk a runway show.

Runway debut and rapid rise, 2020–2022

Moss made her runway debut in October 2020, opening and closing Miu Miu’s Spring/Summer 2021 show at Paris Fashion Week — a high-profile placement just days after her 18th birthday that signalled the industry’s confidence in her. Vogue Japan and Vogue Hong Kong covers followed in 2021, and she was nominated for Model of the Year at the Fashion Awards in 2022, the same year she landed her British Vogue cover debut in May.

Recent record, 2023–2025

Moss’s cover credits have continued to grow, including British Vogue and Vanity Fair in 2023, and a spot on British Vogue’s "40 Vogue Icons" cover in 2024 alongside a Vogue España cover the same year. She walked in Victoria’s Secret’s "The Tour" runway event in 2024, extending her runway record beyond her Miu Miu debut. In 2025, she partnered with Mattel on a custom Barbie doll featuring diabetes-management accessories, a project tied to her long-standing public advocacy around type 1 diabetes.
