How to become a model in Brazil

Apply online through a São Paulo agency’s own website with natural daylight photos. Way and JOY say their assessment is free, and Way says you need no paid portfolio. Brazil bars most work under 16, and a judge must authorise children’s part in public shows. JOY’s The Look of the Year contest takes entries until 31 October 2026.

How it works

How do agencies in Brazil recruit?

  • Agencies run free online assessments: Way calls its form a digital assessment and says there is no fee and no need for a paid professional portfolio; JOY says its assessment is free. Way Model — quero ser modelo ↗
  • Way does not represent children and says professional models must be at least 16; BASE does not represent under-18s unless they are legally emancipated, but runs a free mentoring programme for them with parents’ authorisation. BASE Management — minors policy (PDF) ↗
  • Photos should be natural: Way asks for daylight photos with no make-up, filters, edits or selfies; JOY for full-body, close-up and profile shots without make-up. JOY Management — seja um modelo ↗
  • JOY says it never asks for nude or lingerie photos or any payment, and does not interview over Skype. JOY Management — regulation ↗
  • We could not verify official consumer guidance on modelling-agency fees in Brazil; the rules below cover young people’s work.
